How Does a Mini-Split Work?
Quiet Operation
Ductless Mini Split AC (air conditioners) are comprised of an indoor and outdoor
unit. This allows for a quiet inside environment enabling the professionals at
Eric C. Foster to install louder components like compressors and motors
outdoors.
Easy Installation
CT (Copper tubing) running through a small 3 to 4-inch opening in the wall or
ceiling easily connects the indoor and outdoor units. R410A Refrigerant is
cycled through the lines from the outdoor condensing unit to the indoor
unit, where the air is softly distributed to the interior space.
♲ Energy Efficient
Conventional air duct systems tend to be bulky and can require special
structural attention while Mini Split system piping can often be routed
through walls and joists to maintain aesthetics and structural integrity.
Mini-split over a central air system?
- With Central Air Conditioners you cool and Heat an entire home. Even if only one room may need cooling. But with, ductless mini-splits you cool & heat only the areas you want and not the areas you don’t.
- 18K BTU is a typical minimum capacity for a normal home central air unit. With the new ductless mini splits, you can use the BTU's appropriate for the room.
- Typical 3-ton homes are not zoned or require complex zoning systems, which makes it very expensive for the homeowner. With ductless mini-splits, single or Multi zones make it easy and simple as setting a remote control.
- Retrofitting older homes requires cutting holes in walls, floors, ceilings and decreasing closet space with large ducts. Ductless mini-splits require just a 3 or 4” diameter hole in the outside wall.
